People from a world without flowers must think we would be mad with joy all the time to have such things around us....

A Winter Wedding

Way waaay back in January.  Before the world changed.  We were lucky enough to be invited to do the flowers for the wedding of the daughter of a friend of ours.  The wedding took place in Wenatchee so we were also lucky enough to be able to cross the pass during the middle of winter, during the middle of a winter snow storm.  And since I wasn't driving, I was lucky enough to be able to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery

The bride had picked the last weekend in January for her wedding date because, historically, there is always snow on the ground in Wenatchee on that date.  And she wanted snow.  Lots of snow.  And boy, did she get her wish.  There were 10 new inches of snow that fell on Friday night so we all woke up to a winter wonderland.  It was incredibly lovely. of the North Cascades in winter.

The photo shoot by the river may have been a little chilly but the photographs turned out amazing.

The brides bouquet was a lush mixture of creamy “playa blanca” roses, sweetly apricot , softly blushing “sahara” roses, deep burgundy scabiosa, hypericum berries, blush toned wax flower and deep navy blue permanent botanical viburnum berries accented with a variety of eucalyptus, ruscus, lambs ear, and jasmine vines.

The brides maids carried similar bouquets with an added touch of deep burgundy “black baccara” roses and the almost beige toned “quicksand” rose. The deep navy blue satin ribbon streamers brought in more of the navy blue theme that the bride and groom and selected for their wedding colors.

The ceremony later that day was sweet and tender.  Lit by the glow of a hundred candles and scented with the fragrance of roses and cedar drifting through the church.  It was as lovely as it could possibly be.  The bride looked like something from a fairy tale and the groom looked enchanted.

And sealed with a kiss.

The first dance, under the starry lights....

The sweetness of the day....red velvet cake with assorted berries.

And they lived happily ever after in their winter wonderland....

The slightly fuzzy and not very professional photographs were taken by me with my cell phone camera. The lovely professional photographs that really captured the amazing light by the river were taken by @megahlmophoto in Wenatchee, WA.

The cut log backdrop at the church was provided by the bride’s father and the groom’s mother and family provided the hundreds of candles that lit up the sanctuary.

The groom’s mother and family were also responsible for the starry, light wrapped trees at the reception among all the other hundreds of details that go into making a wedding happen.

The delectable and delicious cake was provided by the bride’s step-mother along with all the guest table decor not pictured here.

A September Wedding

A few scenes from my nephews September wedding at The Wild Rose in Arlington.

The tall vases had inverted gladiolas wrapped in submersible lights to support their centerpieces.
Half of the table top centerpieces were low and surrounded by a drift of coral rose petals.
The head table was a simple garland of ivy, ruscus, and crystal sprays, leaving plenty of room for the bridal parties bouquets.
 A flower girl bouquet.
The Brides bouquet. White freesia with David Austin roses accented with a touch of sparkling crystals tucked into the heart of each bloom
This would be me installing the arbor bouquet.  My granddaughter, Kateryna was acting as our company photographer that day.  She did a great job.
 Mission complete!
The aisle decor was a simple nosegay of babysbreath slipped into a sparkling cone hand crafted by the bride herself.  A dusting of rose petals and a sweep of white organza completed the look.
A close up of a bridesmaids bouquet.
Party time in the reception tent.

A bridesmaid with her bouquet.  And, of course, the DRESS.
Aisle decor, and a cluster of bridesmaids.

A few private moments pre ceremony.
More photos taken by some of the grooms family.  Thank you Grace and Toni!

A most glamorus flower girl.

The handsome ringbearers.
The lovely bride escorted by her proud father.

Not a dry eye in the...garden..
 A sweetly personal ceremony
 Promises made..
and  a kiss to seal the deal.
The bride and groom with their parents...and a full moon rises like a blessing on their wedding reception.
The grooms family
The romance of a first dance under the starry skies.

Late Summer Wedding

Some pictures of a wedding that I did last summer. Cara and Jeff were married in a field behind their home surrounded by corn fields and horse pastures. It was a perfectly lovely setting on a typically lovely Northwest Washington day. She had chosen of green for her bridal flowers so we used vibrant lime cymbidium orchid, chartreuse button mums, spring green hydrangeas, and a few Jade roses mixed in with the ever popular Super Green roses. I also mixed in a few stems of white stock for it's sublime fragrance, white lisianthus with it's papery thin petals and several heads of varigated kale for both texture and color.

The Super Green Roses are one of my favorites, not just because of their delicate color or because they have such a long vase life, but mostly because of the shape of the rose. From the ruffly edges of the petals to the wide, open cup shaped bloom. This rose is a stand out for any occasion
