A Winter Wedding

Way waaay back in January.  Before the world changed.  We were lucky enough to be invited to do the flowers for the wedding of the daughter of a friend of ours.  The wedding took place in Wenatchee so we were also lucky enough to be able to cross the pass during the middle of winter, during the middle of a winter snow storm.  And since I wasn't driving, I was lucky enough to be able to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery

The bride had picked the last weekend in January for her wedding date because, historically, there is always snow on the ground in Wenatchee on that date.  And she wanted snow.  Lots of snow.  And boy, did she get her wish.  There were 10 new inches of snow that fell on Friday night so we all woke up to a winter wonderland.  It was incredibly lovely. of the North Cascades in winter.

The photo shoot by the river may have been a little chilly but the photographs turned out amazing. 

 

The brides bouquet was a lush mixture of creamy “playa blanca” roses, sweetly apricot , softly blushing “sahara” roses, deep burgundy scabiosa, hypericum berries, blush toned wax flower and deep navy blue permanent botanical viburnum berries accented with a variety of eucalyptus, ruscus, lambs ear, and jasmine vines.

The brides maids carried similar bouquets with an added touch of deep burgundy “black baccara” roses and the almost beige toned “quicksand” rose. The deep navy blue satin ribbon streamers brought in more of the navy blue theme that the bride and groom and selected for their wedding colors.

The ceremony later that day was sweet and tender.  Lit by the glow of a hundred candles and scented with the fragrance of roses and cedar drifting through the church.  It was as lovely as it could possibly be.  The bride looked like something from a fairy tale and the groom looked enchanted.

And sealed with a kiss.

And they lived happily ever after in their winter wonderland....

The cut log backdrop at the church was provided by the bride’s father and the groom’s mother and family provided the hundreds of candles that lit up the sanctuary.

The groom’s mother and family were also responsible for the starry, light wrapped trees at the reception among all the other hundreds of details that go into making a wedding happen.

The delectable and delicious cake was provided by the bride’s step-mother along with all the guest table decor not pictured here.
